Under the Beaver Moon: Preparing for What Comes Next

As the seasons shift and November settles in, I find myself reflecting on how much can change in a year. The trees have begun to bare their branches, the air is crisp, and the days fade to darkness a little earlier each evening. There’s a slowness that arrives with this time of year, an instinct to retreat inward and find warmth in quiet moments.

This month’s full moon, known as the Beaver Moon, feels especially symbolic. Traditionally, it marks the time when beavers prepare for winter, gathering the last of their supplies and sealing themselves safely into their lodges. It’s a time of preparation and a reminder that there is beauty in the pause before new beginnings.

In many ways, it mirrors where I am right now. After eight months of construction, we are still waiting to move into our new home. It’s been a long wait but lately I have begun to see the timing as fitting. Like the beavers preparing their lodges, we are also building our space of warmth and safety before winter fully arrives.

Maybe this slower season is exactly what I need, an invitation to breathe and to ground myself before stepping into something new. I find myself craving comfort: reading by the fire, cooking hearty meals, and journaling about what’s to come. This season is about finding comfort in the darkness and allowing creativity to flow from stillness.

The next few months will be about finding peace, leaning into creativity, and gathering inspiration for the new chapter ahead. As winter approaches, I’m choosing to see it as a season of restoration rather than restlessness. Just like the trees - staying resilient through the cold months, dreaming quietly of spring and all that it will bring.

This blog will be a space to share that journey, the rhythm of the seasons, and the search for beauty in the everyday.
